The Open Door is a free, open-source platform that connects people in crisis zones with supporters who want to help directly. No fees. No middlemen. Just community.
The Open Door was born from a simple realization: the people who need help the most are often the hardest to reach. Traditional aid organizations take cuts, add layers of bureaucracy, and strip away the humanity of both the giver and the receiver.
We believe that when you help someone, you should be able to look them in the eye (even if it's through a screen) and know exactly where your support is going. That's why The Open Door connects supporters directly with verified members. No intermediary touches the money. No algorithm decides who deserves help.
Every member on this platform is verified through a process that includes references and review. We take trust seriously because the people on both sides of this platform deserve it.

Supporters browse verified profiles and requests. Each listing shows what's needed, why, and who the person is. Real stories, not algorithms.
Supporters connect directly via Signal and send funds through their preferred method. No platform fees. 100% goes to the person.
The people on this platform are professionals, parents, students, and community members who happen to be in crisis. They are not defined by their circumstances.
We don't take a cent. The platform is open source. Every decision is visible. If you want to see how we build, check our GitHub.
No recommendation engines. No engagement optimization. Just real people telling their stories and others choosing to help.
The Open Door is built entirely by volunteers. We need help with development, design, translation, community outreach, and more.
If you're a developer, designer, translator, community organizer, or just someone who cares about this mission, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you need support or want to give, the door is open.
